Posted by on

It’s summertime, the weather’s nice and there’s so much to do in Downtown Oshkosh! We’ve compiled a list of a few must-attend events and activities happening in Downtown Oshkosh this summer. See if you can check off every one of the events on the list this summer!

IMG_2625Downtown Oshkosh Farmer’s Markets
A local favorite, the Downtown Oshkosh Farmer’s Market features local produce, delicious food vendors and crafts made by awesome people in the community. A few of our favorite things from the market include fresh-cut wildflowers, embroidered hoop art from The Steadfast Stitch and tacos from Los Tres Manantiales. They are to die for!! For more information on the Downtown Oshkosh Farmer’s Market, visit osfmi.com.

The Live at Lunch Series
This event takes place every Wednesday in Opera House Square from 12-1pm. Live at Lunch allows you to take a break from the workday and enjoy awesome live music and eat yummy foods from local restaurants. We will be hosting the final Live at Lunch on August 16th on the front lawn of The Beach Building. One of our fave local artists, Auralai will be performing– the duo is incredibly talented, so you must check out their music here.

Waterfest
Another local favorite! Waterfest takes place every Thursday evening and features popular artists such as The Wallflowers, Better Than Ezra and the BoDeans. To view the entire summer lineup, visit the website here. Our favorite part about Waterfest is that veterans are admitted FREE to every Waterfest event. Also, why not make a night of it and stop at Ruby Owl Tap Room or Bar 430 for dinner before the show?

IMG_3001Main Street Music Festival
On July 26th through the 31st, various local bars and restaurants such as Barley & Hops and Peabody’s feature up-and-coming artists each evening. Featured artists include Dead Horses, The Jay Edward Band, Auralai and more! For more updates on Main Street Music Festival, visit www.oshkoshmainstreetmusicfestival.com.

Downtown Chalk Walk
Artists and community members of all levels and ages are able to participate in the event and chalk up the sidewalk around Opera House Square. Visitors are encouraged to join in and watch, and of course what would any event be without food, music and entertainment! The event is August 5th from 8am-6pm.

SPLASHKOSH
Now this event isn’t really “downtown” per say, but it just has to be mentioned. SPLASHKOSH is Wisconsin’s newest festival that blends the best things about summer; water and concerts! So bring your friends to roar down the 200 foot slip n slide, compete in water games, eat at delicious food trucks and listen to awesome live bands. The event will take place at Red Arrow Park August 5th at 11:30am.

We’ve compiled a list of 5 reasons why coworking is the next big thing in the business world!

The Major Benefits of Coworking Spaces

, , , , , Posted by on

“People who belong to coworking spaces report levels of thriving that approach an average of 6 on a 7-point scale.” (Harvard Business Review) This is an entire point higher than employees who do their jobs in regular offices! For those of you who don’t know, a coworking space is a membership-based workspace where diverse groups of freelancers, remote workers and independent professionals work together in a shared, communal setting. (HBR) Each of the members tend to have a unique skill set that they can provide to other members!coworking

Coworking spaces have many benefits– one being that the space offers a form of structure for those who typically work from home, and a major bonus—members can come and go as they please! A coworking space allows someone who is used to working alone to feel like they are a part of a community where they can grow their connections and network.

One of the most exciting benefits to the Oshkosh Works coworking space in particular is The Grind coming this winter. The Grind is a spin-off of Planet Perk in town, which is already popularly known for its superb Intelligentsia coffee, lattes and tasty treats. The Grind offers the ability for employees of the coworking space to have a meeting over coffee when necessary (in a lax café atmosphere) and then return back to work without even having to leave the building!

Another plus– the Oshkosh Works coworking space can be a part of your company’s strategy! It offers your employees an alternative workplace with flexibility. It can be used for work trips too. For example, if you have many people traveling to the area often for work-related trips, rent out a space for people who frequently visit your company, so they have an awesome place to work when they are away from home.

Coworking spaces are for the collaboration of like-minded people and offer employees a high level of autonomy where they can be themselves at work. Many people are yearning for a work environment that is collaborative, inspiring and stimulating. A great example of an awesome coworking space is Menlo Innovations’ A2 Startup Garage. They recently expanded to promote entrepreneurs and start-ups by having them work alongside Menlo programmers to encourage community innovation.

Why You Should Live & Work at The Beach

Posted by on

Our latest redevelopment project, reconstructing the Orville Beach Building, is wrapping up.  Sounds sad, but it’s been a long few months for our awesome crew who turned a bunch of vacant office spaces into an open concept coworking space and 22 apartments. The history in itself makes the building awesome, but wait until you see the final transformation! The building was once known as the Orville Beach Manual Training School and held Oshkosh High School’s welding and shop classes. World-famous architect, William Waters, famous for his incredibly stunning Queen-Anne style designs, designed the building in 1912.

The Grind Coworking Space
The first floor of the Beach Building will be home to the The Grind Coworking Space. For those of you who don’t know, a coworking space is a shared work environment that appeals to up-and-coming entrepreneurs, freelancers, and employees who work from home and are looking for a designated space to get things done. Leasers can rent individual offices, desks, and memberships, and teams can rent multiple office spaces and desks. This space has been created to encourage entrepreneurial growth in Oshkosh, especially within the I.T. sector, so of course we will feature high-speed fiber gigabit Internet for all those tech-savvy entrepreneurs.

The Grind
Of course coffee is necessary in any working environment, so we decided to add on a public coffee shop called The Grind (by Planet Perk). This coffee shop will be awesome for the workers in the coworking space and surrounding workplaces such as City Hall, the Oshkosh Police Department, and other local businesses.Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 3.36.51 PM

22 Modern Scandinavian Style Apartments
Scandinavian style? What is that? Scandinavian design is a term to represent a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality that emerged in the 1950s in the five Nordic countries of Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark. (Scandinavia Design) Designed with simplicity in mind, these 1 and 2-bedroom apartments along with studio micro apartments have 11-foot ceilings, spacious rooms, and endless windows.Unit 211-311 Two Bedroom
